MSC is a family-oriented fishing club organized to stimulate public awareness of striped bass fishing. We promote sportmanship, conservation and demand adequate water quality. We're based in Columbia, S.C. on beautiful Lake Murray.
Tournaments are held on the third Saturday of each month, with times following safe light conditions. Membership fee is currenty $30 per year for the entire family or $15 after July 1st. If you wish to join, you may download an application form in Adobe Acrobat Reader format here. (NOTE: MSC does not mail a membership packet. Midlands Striper Club held its monthly team tournament May 18th in conjunction with its MSC-SCDNR Benefit Open Tournament on Lake Murray. The tournament was held at Dreher Island State Park. It was a beautiful fishing day on the lake. Approximately 80 anglers representing 27 teams participated in the club and DNR Open events.
First Place honors for both the DNR Benefit Open and the MSC Club event went to Team Landlocked, captained by Richy Brensinger of Lexington SC fishing with Joey Smoak of Lexington and Wayne Bell of Prosperity SC with a 4 fish creel of 38.97 lbs. Team Landlocked also captured the Nichols Store of Rock Hill Big Fish award with their striped bass tipping the scales at 19.84 lbs.
Second Place in the MSC DNR Tournament Open went to Team Bait Hooked, captained by Rob Hedrick of Lincoln GA fishing with Wes Gilmore of Crouse NC. Finishing 3rd in the MSC DNR Open and in second place in the MSC Club Tournament was Team Catchall, captained by Lee Thomas of Leesville SC fishing with Kreg and Kolden Frady of Leesville and Carl Thomas of Santee SC with a 4 fish creel of 28.19 lbs.
Third place in the MSC Club event was secured by Team Red Fin with their 4 fish creel of 25.10 lbs. Eleventh place was secured by Team Overtime with a 4 fish creel of 18.65 lbs. and eighteenth place was secured by Team Reel Guys with their 4 fish creel of 15.53 lbs. The events smallest creel award went to Team Reel Obsession. The MSC Club tournament Youth Angler award went to Kolden Frady of Team Catchall with their second place finish. Wendy Horne of Team Red Fin won the top finishing MSC Club Lady Angler award with their 3rd place finish.
