URGENT NOTICE!

I wanted to alert everyone that we have an important vote coming up at our meeting next month on Thursday, February 16th.
Last year your PAC Committee, of which I was chair, worked to make needed changes to our club bylaws. Since we no longer publish and mail a newsletter, we edited the section dealing with notification prior to a bylaw revision, opting to publish the edited bylaws on this web site and post them on the club message board at least two weeks prior to the meeting at which a vote on said bylaws will be held. Bylaw changes require a 2/3 majority favorable vote to carry.
Below are clickable links to the new bylaws and to our new tournament rules whereby the club has transitioned to a team boat tournament format and eliminated the individual angler of the year category of competition. Links to the old bylaws and tx rules are posted elsewhere on this page.for comparison.
The club will present the new bylaws to the membership at our February meeting, so please make every effort to attend this very important meeting.
Please remember, if you haven't paid your 2012 dues, please do so at the meeting. I look forward to serving MSC as your president and hope to see you at the meeting!
Jim Gibbs

Team Laid Back Continues Winning Ways In 2012 With January Win. Brian Baire Takes Big Fish.

Midlands Striper Club held its first monthly tournament of 2012 on January 21st out of Spinners Resort on Lake Murray. Although the weather did not cooperate for the entire event, 66 anglers fishing in 28 teams participated. Thunder storms eventually forced participating teams off the lake for safety. Nearly all boats caught legal size fish, and the teams brought 83 striped bass to the scales. The weigh-in was filled with great fellowship and fun, even though the thunder and lightning continued to be seen and heard frequently outside the weigh-in shelter.
MSC changed their tournament rules for 2012, making all ten points events "team boat” tournaments. The change will hopefully encourage participating teams to invite new members and compete at a team boat level rather than on an individual angler basis. The decision was a tough one for the club, but with record numbers of anglers and boats showing up for the new format, it ensured the club the right choice was made.
Finishing in first place was Team Laid Back, consisting of Captain David Richardson, his son and 2011 Angler of the Year Tristan Richardson, both of Aiken, SC, fishing with Phillip Ramsey and his son John Ramsey, both from New Ellington, S.C. Team Laid Back’s winning creel of 4 fish weighed 31 lbs 3 ozs. Team Laid Back continued its winning ways…as the team also won MSC Team of the Year for 2011.
Finishing second was Team Landlocked, consisting of Captain Richy Brensinger and Joey Smoak, both from Lexington SC, and Wayne Bell from Prosperity SC. Team Landlocked’s 4 fish creel weighed 29 lbs 14 ozs. In third place was Team One Way, consisting of Captain Tommy Richardson and his sons Caleb and Jaime, all from Swansea SC and Wesley Kanard from Aiken SC. Team One Way’s 4 fish creel tipped the scales at 28 lbs 13 ozs.
Nichols Store of Rock Hill sponsors MSC’s Largest Striped Bass in each event and the January award went to Team Barely Tyme, Captained by Bryan Baire of Rock Hill SC, with a single striper tipping the scales at 12 lbs even. West Marine of Columbia SC sponsors our smallest creel for each event and the award went to Team Hammer Head, Captain Wynn Corely of Lexington SC.

L to R: Team Laid Back. Tristan Richardson, David Richardson, John Ramsey, Phillip Ramsey.
Bryan Baire with his Nichols Store of Rock Hill Big Fish, a 12 lb. striper.
