MSC's June team tournament was held out of Jakes Landing on Saturday, June 20. Finishing 1st was Team Catchall, consisting of Lee Thomas and Kreg Frady, both of Leesville with four striped bass weighing 29 pounds. Team Catchall also weighed the biggest striper of the event, a 12 pound, 15 ounce fish that earned the team the Nichols Store of Rock Hill Big Fish award.
In 2nd place was Team Wildman, consisting of Danny Young of Sumter and Skip Morgan of Rock Hill. The pair weighed in fish totaling18 pounds, 11ounces. Finishing out the top three in 3rd place was Team Cowcatcher, consisting of Rick Kellemeyer and Bobby Sammons of Chapin, with a total weight of 13 pounds, 14 ounces.
The event's Smallest Creel award went to Team Two Guys and a Gizzard, consisting of Cam Littlejohn and Joby Wetzel, both of Columbia. Only 8 boats weighed in fish and only 16 keepers came to the scales. MSC has cancelled its July and August tournaments on Lake Murray out of concern that released striped bass may not survive being placed back into the lake's hot summertime waters.
MSC May Individual Angler Big Fish Winners: (l to r) Bobby Sammons, Rick Kellemeyer, Cam Littlejohn, Lee Thomas (with 12 lb. 15 oz. striped bass), Danny Young, Kreg Frady, Woody Barnes, Skip Morgan.
